Holiday Office Outfit

Continuing the holiday outfit theme today and talking about outfit ideas for an office Christmas party. A little different than a Christmas party at your home, but just because it’s in the workplace doesn’t mean you can’t dress festive!

Each year, my office celebrates Christmas with a lunch out and I always like to wear something festive. Last year, it was insanely cold, so I opted for a big down coat and red lipstick. That’s as festive as it was going to get in that weather! This year, we aren’t able to celebrate until after Christmas with so many people on vacation, but I wanted to share outfit ideas for those of you who are looking for a more conservative, work-friendly holiday look.

Nothing is more festive than THIS plaid button-up shirt, not to mention it’s fun but professional at the same time. I paired the shirt with my favorite midi faux leather pleated skirt from a few years ago {it is still available online, but sizing is limited — there is also a mini version!}Naturally, I couldn’t resist wearing THIS red coat with the faux fur hood. I wasn’t kidding when I said I have been wearing it all.the.time. It a necessary accessory with our latest burst of cold air.

A little backstory about these pictures. Last Sunday, we went into DC super early to get two sets of pictures done before too many tourists started sightseeing. We took these pictures in front of the U.S. Capitol and Christmas Tree! Just as we started taking the pictures, my husband said a strange warning came up on the camera, something about the card being damaged!!! Needless to say, I freaked out. I didn’t have another card with me and we are about 45 minutes {on a good day, with no traffic} from the city and their was no chance of us coming back. I took the battery out but the card was stuck. We were able to finish taking a few pictures and decided I would worry about the stuck card when we got home. Well, let me tell you, it’s really stuck. Of course I lost the USB cord to connect the camera to my computer {I probably threw it away when I did the massive cleaning of my office} but we found one on Amazon Prime and had it shipped off. Thankfully it arrived Monday evening and worked, but the card is still stuck! It looks like I’m going to have to take it to a camera technician this weekend, but what timing with Christmas next week! It has been a stressful few weeks and this camera debacle was the icing on the cake. I cannot tell you how excited I am for a day off next week. Anyone else with me?!

I apologize for my rant — I would love to know if this has happened to anyone else before and what the solution was. Thanks for dropping by and I hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

  1. Ok it's always bad when something unexpected comes up on a shoot. They are so stressful in the first place, it's no good when you're thrown a curve ball! I hope you can get the card out soon. Ugh, blogger problems! Love this outfit! I have been living in my plaid shirt this christmas!

  2. Oh gosh, how awful about the camera! I haven't had that happen to me before, I can't believe it's stuck!! Very strange… But you look gorgeous in this coat, and I'm happy that you were able to snap a few before all the people show up (don't you hate when that happens? lol) Hope your party was fun last weekend too!

  3. You look stunning Rachel! I'm convinced that every single color is YOUR color, everything looks amazing on you!
I'm so sorry to hear about your camera…thank goodness for Amazon Prime! I actually only use my USB because I'm afraid of loosing my card. Haha! I have a couple of cards but it still always scares me. Hopefully you get it figured out soon!

  4. This is such a cute outfit, and I totally agree with you about still wanting to dress festive even if it's a work Christmas lunch. That sucks about your camera! I've never had that happen before, but I hope that you can get it fixed before Christmas!

  5. I absolutely adore this outfit! The coat is gorgeous and perfect for the holiday season and I also love the plaid and leather combo you've got going underneath, indeed perfect for the office this time of year! As for your camera situation, I'm SO sorry this happened, especially now! Over the summer, I had taken 3 photos one day to prep for the week ahead and didn't realize that I had left my memory card in between my laptop screen and keyboard BEFORE I had imported the photos, closed the laptop and yup, CRUSHED the card with ALL my 100+ photos! It was SO stressful, so I definitely understand how you must have felt. I definitely suggest seeing a tech and don't try doing it yourself because it can make it worse. At least you were able to recover the photos. Are you able to still take photos saved on the card for your next shoot? If so, then don't worry, you'll at least be able to import with the new cord and I'm sure the tech will be able to easily remove the card 🙂 Sending all the positive vibes your way and wishing you a wonderful weekend, beauty!
