Summer Workwear

Summer Workwear Outfit Ideas

Happy Monday! The first of June means it’s time to break out all the summer clothes. Although I love sharing casual, weekend attire, the unofficial start of a new season also means a change for your work wardrobe. Today, I’m talking about incorporating cute dresses and comfortable flats into your summer workwear.

Easy Summer Workwear

Cool and comfortable dresses are summer essentials for the 9-5 job. This particular dress is super old {similar styles HERE, HERE & HERE} but I love the linen fabric which is perfect for staying cool in the warm months. This dress can be dressed down with sandals or wedges or dressed up for the office with flats. These are my favorite kinds of dresses.
Speaking of these flats, you may remember when I wore them last month more casually with jeans and a ruffle tee {post HERE}. As far as I’m concerned, these flats are the perfect summer shoes for work: they are comfortable and the peek toe is a fun spin on the traditional closed toe flats for the office. The beige and cognac colors make them super universal and easy to wear with several summer pieces.

Simple Accessories for the 9-5

When it comes to accessories, I keep it pretty simple for work. If I do wear bracelets to work, I find that I take them off because bracelets and typing don’t go well together. Light earrings are also key. You may have noticed I’ve been wearing these hoops a TON lately. I love the size and thickness and for being on the larger side, they are super light. They are also available in silver.
What are some of your favorite office looks for the summer? Thanks for stopping by and have a great start to the week, friends!

  1. Simple, sweet, perfect work day dress. We cannot wear sleeveless so I'd have to throw a cardi over but you can bet, the minute, I get out the door, it's coming off and I love to run errands after work on a day I am wearing flats and not heels. lol. Super Cute lady!!!

  2. Comfortable shoes are a must for me, especially since I walk to and from work from the train – I love the ones that don't have to be changed because they are comfy & look cute!! Such a great dress too – throw on a cardigan and you're ready for any meeting!! xo, Biana –BlovedBoston

  3. You look gorgeous, Rachel! Gotta love a classic dress like this and those shoes…LOVE them. I can see myself wearing those with a ton of things.
Glad to hear those hoops are light…I kind of want a pair, but since I don't ever wear hoops…I'm not too sure how they would look and definitely don't want a heavy pair.

  4. That dress is perfect for the office! I hate dressing for work during summer in Vegas because it's 100 degrees outside but freezing inside. Dresses and cardigans are my go-to items.

  5. You look absolutely beautiful, girlie! I love everything about this look from your hair all the way down to those cute flats you love and that pedi (what a pretty color!). I, too, love linen come summer, it's so light and airy, perfect for those super hot and humid days when you're gong in and out of the office. I love the fit of this dress with the tied waist, which adds a nice flattering touch. As mentioned, those flats are lovely, I adore the eyelet detail and the color combination, too! Thanks so much for sharing, beauty, and I hope you're having a great start to your week so far!
